Babcock & Wilcox Völund have won there third major contract for a biomass facility in the UK: a 40MWe waste wood biomass plant in Teesside including 15 years of operation and maintenance.
They have signed a contract for the delivery, operation and maintenance of a third major biomass facility, located in Teesside near Middlesbrough, on behalf of Glennmont Partners.
The biomass facility will be capable of using waste wood as fuel and will be generating 40MW of renewable energy.
The 40MWe scheme follows on from the biomass projects at Margam, Port Talbot in South Wales, signed in January 2015, and the Templeborough project in Rotherham, signed in March 2015. These schemes, when operational, will contribute 120MW of renewable energy in support of the growing need to develop and provide renewable energy in the UK.
For each of the facilities Völund has ordered two Petro Lance burners of 40MW per piece. That is the biggest lance burner ever delivered by Petro. With a swing out design and a protective door Petro Lance burner is very well suited for the harsh environment in a waste incineration plant (see video on swing door in operation).
